You can find ultra-luxury homes for sale in every corner of the United States. But how do we define what counts as an “expensive” sale when prices vary so widely from one place to the next?

Point2Homes analyzed listings in every U.S. state and Washington, D.C. to determine the most expensive home for sale in each. The real estate research site then ranked each state based upon its most expensive listing.

Of course, the priciest homes in certain states dwarf many others. The most expensive home for sale in all of Nebraska, ranked No. 51, costs $3,890,000 — only 1.5% of the cost of the most expensive listing in No. 1-ranked California, which is listed for $250 million.

Texas ranked at No. 8, with its most expensive home on the market currently listed for $65 million. Located at 107 Timberwilde Lane in Houston, the 22,000-square-foot property includes eight bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, two pools, a guest lodge and an outdoor kitchen and bar. The estate also comes with its own 24-hour guard.

The luxury property was listed by Billy Dolan of Dave Perry Miller Real Estate.
