Dallas is one of the most popular places to move to — or, at least the most popular places to think about moving to, according to a new analysis from Redfin.
The real estate site recently reported that record-high numbers of users were looking to relocate in January. Nearly 25% of all Redfin.com users searched for homes outside their current metro area last month — a 2.1% increase from January 2022, and a 6.9% increase from January 2020 (before the pandemic).
While sunny Miami claimed the title of the most popular potential migration destination, Dallas was also among the top metros that attracted out-of-state movers. According to Redfin, net inflow into Dallas was the sixth-highest of all metro areas surveyed, with 4,400 users looking to move to the Big D in January (down from 7,300 users in January 2022).
The majority of potential Dallasites are in Los Angeles, which ranked as the No. 2 metro that homebuyers are looking to leave.
