Texas cities rank among the best for digital nomads

by Emily Marek

Many cities in Texas rank among the best in the country for “digital nomads,” according to the home services research company House Method.

With the work from home era in full swing, many Americans are taking advantage of their unconventional work routines to try out the nomadic lifestyle. While working remotely, these people travel from city to city rather than set down roots in one place. Using data from the U.S. Census Bureau, House Method analyzed 100 of the largest cities and ranked them based on living costs, working experience and living experience to determine which city in the U.S. is the best for digital nomads.

Arlington, Texas, ranks second overall on the list behind St. Paul, Minnesota. Specifically, Arlington scored well in the living-experience category, meaning the city has a large amount of bars, restaurants and entertainment spaces, an ample amount of short-term rentals, and relatively low crime rates.

The Texas cities of Irving, Garland and Plano also ranked among the best cities for modern nomads, earning similarly high scores for overall living experience. Additionally, Irving scored well in the living-costs category, meaning the city has affordable gas prices, as well as affordable short-term rental costs.

Houston and Dallas ranked significantly lower on the list, earning suboptimal scores for working experience. This means these cities have a relatively low availability of coffee shops, lower amounts of coworking spaces and below-average WiFi Speeds.
